In Luke 5, when a paralytic man was let
down through the roof so that Jesus might
heal him, Jesus said, "Your sins are forgiven you".
Then to show that He had the authority
to forgive sins, He said, "Arise, take up
your bed and go to your house".
Jesus had the authority to heal the man
because He had the authority to forgive
his sins.
Both actions were based on the Cross,
where Jesus gave His body and shed His
blood.
